Severn Trent has teamed up with Corgin to install new Spiral Aerators, effectively addressing low dissolved oxygen (DO) levels and high maintenance costs. The new aerators have improved performance, reduced chemical usage, and enhanced settlement characteristics.
Jack Morris, Senior Process Scientist at Severn Trent, noted previous issues with frequent maintenance and high costs. "Increased load was basically causing us to really, really struggle. Our current setup on site came with a really expensive maintenance," he said.
The Spiral Aerators have been transformative. Greg Tate, Team Manager at Severn Trent mentioned, "...you could basically sort out our issues here with Spiral Aerator...the performance improved pretty much instantly."
Jack Morris highlighted the easy installation and immediate impact. "With incredibly plug-and-play, the week after installation, we re-enabled our anoxic periods because we were now getting sufficient DO (Dissolved Oxygen). We were getting some really good settlement characteristics."
The Corgin partnership has improved technical performance and brought environmental benefits. Chris Giles, Head of Wastewater Recycling, added, "...more efficient operation, which means better power saving, better process performance, and ultimately, that is good for the environment and good for our business."
Severn Trent's team is highly satisfied with Corgin's service. Jack Morris praised, "Would I recommend Corgin to anyone else? Absolutely. The amount of pain you save me here can be replicated on plenty of sites."
Greg Tate and Chris Giles shared positive feedback about the collaboration, which demonstrates how innovative solutions and strong partnerships enhance wastewater treatment processes. Watch the full case study video below of a Spiral Aerator being installed on a Severn Trent site.
